Why is the biweekly payment half the monthly payment?

That is the standard teaching setup: each biweekly draft is monthly P&I ÷ 2, with 26 drafts per year.

Is time saved exact in calendar months?

Monthly path uses whole months. Biweekly path converts periods with a 14-day / 30.437-day approximation for display.
