How the commission calculator works
Clear earnings arithmetic for learning—not a payroll system.
Tool: Commission calculator · Embed · All how-we-calculate pages · Questions
Purpose
Estimate commission from sales volume and a single commission rate, with optional base pay and a simple draw offset. Educational only.
Formulas
- Gross commission = sales amount × (commission% ÷ 100)
- Net commission = max(0, gross commission − draw)
- Total pay = base pay + net commission
- Effective rate = gross commission ÷ sales (when sales > 0)
What we intentionally leave out
- Tiered rates, accelerators, and spiffs
- Quota attainment thresholds and clawbacks beyond a simple draw field
- Taxes, withholdings, and benefits (see paycheck calculator)
- Industry-specific splits (e.g. broker co-op) beyond a single rate you type
